CA Programme Course Details

Chartered Accountancy

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is the premier professional body which has been set up by an Act of the Parliament Viz. Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 for regulating the Chartered Accountancy profession in India. The profession has seen radical changes from its introduction.

Foundation Route –

  1. Registration for Foundation Course after appearing in Class 12th Examination. (You can refer the “Level I – CA Foundation tab below to find out the process to register)
  2. Complete four months Study Period. Register till 30th June/ 31st December for being eligible to appear in November/ May Foundation Course Examination.
  3. Write the Foundation Examination after passing in the 12th Examination
  4. After Qualifying the Foundation examination, register for the Intermediate Course.
  5. Write the Intermediate Examination after completing 8 months of study course as on first day of the month in which the examination is to be held.
  6. Complete Four weeks of Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft skills (ICITSS) consisting of Courses on Information Technology and Orientation Course at any time after registering for the Intermediate course but before commencement of their Articleship.
  7. Complete three years of Articleship training after passing either of the Group or Both Groups of Intermediate Course.
  8. After completing both the groups of the Intermediate level, register for Final Course.
  9. Complete Four weeks of Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft skills (AICITSS) consisting of Courses on Advanced Information Technology and Management Communication Skills during the last two years of practical training but before appearing in the Final Examination.
  10. Write the Final Examination on completion of the practical training or while serving last 6 months of articled training and after successful completion of AICITSS.
  11. Complete Articleship training of 3 years.
  12. Pass the Final Examination.
  13. Register yourself as a member of the ICAI and be designated as “Chartered Accountant”

Eligibility Criteria

  • For commerce graduates/postgraduates, a minimum grade of 55% is required, while other graduates/postgraduates need a minimum of 60%.
  • Candidates who have successfully passed the Intermediate level examinations of the Institute of Companies Secretaries of India (ICSI) or the Indian Institute of Cost Accountants (IIC) are also eligible to apply.
  • For graduates/postgraduates in the last year of their graduation

Procedure for Registration

Step 1: Visit www.icai.org and click on “Self-Service Portal.”

Step 2: If you’re a first-time user, click on “First-time User (New Student). Click here.”

Step 3: Complete your personal details in the online form, ensuring accuracy based on your   10th/12th certificate.

Step 4: Once your account is created, check your email for login details and password.

Step 5: Proceed to fill out the registration form online, starting with personal details.

Step 6: Provide information about your qualifications and upload the necessary documents.

Step 7: For students in the final year of graduation, attach a proof (bonafide certificate) obtained from the   University/College.

Required Documents for Registration

  • CA Direct Entry Scheme students are needed to submit attested copies of their Graduation/ Post Graduation mark statements. They will also be asked to submit their Mark Sheet of Intermediate level examination of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India or the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
  • All candidates must provide one recent colour photograph (affixed to the printout of the online successful CA inter registration form)
  • Attested copy of proof of Nationality, if the student is a foreigner.
  • Attested copy of proof of special category certificate, i.e., SC/ST, OBC, disabled.

Three Levels in the CA Programme

Level I – CA Foundation

Eligibility Criteria- The candidate will be eligible to register for this course only after appearing in the 10+2 examinations constituted by Law or conducted by an examining body recognized by the Central Government. Unlike earlier, the candidate will be eligible to sit for the exam only after passing the 10+2 Examination.

Procedure for CA Foundation Registration

Step 1- Go to the ICAI website (www.icai.org), click on the ‘Self Service Portal (SSP)’ tab on top of the page in red

Step 2- Thereafter a sign-in screen will appear. The existing candidates can log in through their credentials. Whereas the new students will have to register themselves by clicking on ‘New student enrolling for the first time Click Here’

Step 3- Thereafter a login screen will appear. Candidates who are registering for the first time for CA need to click on ‘New Students Who wants to register for CA for the first time click here’

Step 4- Before filling the required details read the ‘Important Note’ carefully. Candidates, please note that you cannot change any detail provided by you after submission of Form. So fill all the details very carefully & check twice before submitting the form. After filling the required details candidates should click on ‘Generate OTP’

Step 5- If you have entered correct Mobile Number click on ‘OK’. After clicking on ‘OK’ it will show a captcha verification window. Enter the captcha text displayed in the image & click on ‘Submit’ to receive OTP

Step 6- After clicking on submit tab an OTP (One Time Password) will be generated & will be sent to their registered Email Id & Mobile No. After receiving the OTP, the candidate will have to enter it & click on ‘Validate OTP’

Step 7- Thereafter OTP & Email has been validated. After getting your mobile no. & email id validated the login id & password will be sent to the registered email id as entered. Students can now login on the login page of the next step with the same credentials

Step 8- When you log in on the SSP Portal using the login id & password generated in the earlier step Student’s profile window will pop up. Their candidates have to click on ‘student cycle’ option

Step 9- After clicking on the student cycle option, student module window will pop up. Their candidates have to click on the ‘Apply for Foundation’ tab

Step 10- Thereafter foundation registration form will pop up on the screen. Fill all the pending details carefully & make requisite payment through the payment gateway. Once the payment is successful form will automatically go for approval to ICAI. ICAI will inform you on mail about approval of your registration form.

Required Documents for CA Foundation Registration

You’ll be required to upload the scanned copy of original documents.

  • The duly signed printout of the online successful registration form in hard copy.
  • Attested copy of Admit Card / Mark sheet of Class 12 examination issued by the respective Board.
  • One recent colour photograph (affixed on the printout of the online successful registration form).
  • Attested copy of

-proof of Nationality, if the student is a foreigner.

-special category certificate i.e. SC/ST, OBC, Differently abled.

-the 10th Marksheet/ Admit Card of 10th class indicating the Name & Date of Birth.

(The Paper 1 & 2 are subjective while the Paper 3 & 4 are objective)

Eligibility Criteria- You can register for CA Intermediate

  • If you have qualified CA Foundation or
  • If you are through Direct Entry scheme i.e., you are a commerce Graduate/Post-Graduate (with minimum 55% marks) or Non commerce Graduate/Post-Graduate (with minimum 60% marks) or you are an Intermediate level passed candidates of Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India.

Procedure for CA Intermediate Registration

Step 1: Visit the ICAI website.

Step 2: Log in to the self-service portal using your email ID and password.

Step 3: Authenticate and access the Student SSP portal.

Step 4: Choose the student cycle (CA Foundation or direct entry).

Step 5: Fill in the required details and click “save and next.”

Step 6: Receive an OTP to complete the login process. Log in again to provide additional details.

Step 7: Pay the registration fees online.

Required Documents for CA Intermediate Registration

 You’ll be required to upload the scanned copy of original documents.

  • CA Foundation route entry students need to submit an attested copy of the mark sheet of Class 12th or its equivalent exams along with the Pass Marks statement of examination issued by a recognized They will also need to provide a digital copy of their CA Foundation main exam.
  • CA Direct Entry Scheme students are needed to submit attested copies of their Graduation/ Post Graduation mark statements. Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates have cleared CA Intermediate
  • The candidate should also complete Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) after registration for Intermediate course but before the commencement of Practical Training (PT).
  • It is also mandatory to undergo a practical training (PT) of two years.
  • After completion of the practical training but before appearing for the CA final examination, candidates also have to undergo an Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills(AICITSS)
  • Candidate needs to complete the self-paced online learning modules with a minimum of 50% marks after completing the CA Intermediate exam but before appearing for the CA Final exam

Procedure for CA Final Registration

Step 1: Visit ICAI’s official website at icai.org.

Step 2: Select “Student Services” from the dropdown menu after clicking on the “e-services” menu.

Step 3: Scroll down and select the “Self-Service Portal” to proceed.

Step 4: Log in using your user ID and password. If you don’t have an account, click on the provided link.

Step 5: Navigate to the “Final” tab to access the CA Final 2024 registration form.

Step 6: Fill in your general details such as name, address, marital status, and study medium.

Step 7: Follow ICAI’s guidelines and upload scanned copies of necessary documents. The document list is provided below the form.

Step 8: Complete the registration process by making the payment.

Step 9: Download the payment receipt for your reference.

  • A Recent, passport sized coloured photograph
  • Duly attested marks sheet of CA Intermediate.

Company Secretary (CS)

  • Can become Key managerial personnel of a company
  • Has to be appointed as a whole-time Company Secretary of companies having paid up share capital of Rs. 5 crores or more.
  • Has to be appointed as whole-time key managerial personnel of every listed company and every other public company having a paid-up share capital of 10 crore rupees or more
Company Secretary in Practice
  • Secretarial Audit and Certificate Services
  • Representing on behalf of a company and other persons before NCLT
  • Handling Corporate restructuring and takeovers.
  • Administrator in respect of rehabilitation and revival of sick companies.
  • Appointment as Company Liquidator/ Provisional Liquidator.
  • Can be Technical member of NCLT
  • Can become a part of Mediation & Conciliation panel during the pendency of proceedings before CG/NCLT/NCLAT.
  • Pre-certification of e-forms
  • Duty to report fraud

Four Levels in the CS Programme

Level I – CSEET

(A) Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent students of Arts, Science or Commerce stream (Excluding Fine Arts).

(B) Procedure for CSEET Registration

Step 1: Visit the official website of ICSI
Step 2: Click on the tab ‘Online Services’ and then click ‘Register for CSEET’
Step 3: Next, tick the required checkbox button and Proceed to CSEET Registration
Step 4: Fill all the required basic details and select the CSEET registration fees details
Step 5: Upload the mandatory documents required. Then click next
Step 6: Preview the application and click “Confirm Application” after previewing
Step 7: Select the payment mode and press the Next button
Step 8: A Transaction ID is generated. Make sure to note it down for future use

(C) Required Documents for CSEET Registration
You’ll be required to upload the scanned copy of original documents.

• A scanned copy of your photograph
• Scanned signature
• Date of birth certificate (10th pass certificate)
• Hall ticket/admit card of class 12 (if applicable)
• 10+2 passing certificate/mark sheet
• Category certificate (if you’re availing fee concession)

Choose any of the following identity proofs:
• Aadhar Card
• Passport
• Voter ID
• Pan Card
• Driving License
• Ration Card

Guidelines for Uploading Documents:
• File format should be jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp, or pdf
• The maximum file size allowed is 2 MB
• Scanned photo file size should be between 20kb to 50kb
• Scanned signature file size should range from 10kb to 20kb

(D) Exemption from CSEET
The following categories of students shall be exempted from CSEET and may register directly to CS Executive Programme.

Candidates who have passed:
(i) ICSI Foundation Examination
(ii) Final Stage of Chartered Accountancy Course conducted by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India
(iii) Final Stage of Cost Accountancy Course conducted by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India
(iv) Bachelor’s Degree or Post Graduate Degree Examinations

Further, Students appearing in the Final Year / Final Semester examination of Bachelor’s Degree Examinations may also register directly to CS Executive Programme.

(E) Fee Structure

Fee at the time of CSEET Registration

15 days from receipt of last application (60 days from result)

(K) Refund of Fee
No refund will be applicable in any circumstances including non-eligible candidates after making payment except double payment.

(L) Validity of CSEET Registration
The registration to CSEET will be valid for 3 (Three) Years from the Month of Registration.

(M) Validity of CSEET Result
The CSEET Result will be valid for One year from the date of declaration of result.

(N) Issue of Marksheets
Marksheets will be issued in electronic form (E-Marksheet) only.

(O) Subjects, Pattern, Marks and Duration

First Day: Business Communication – 100 Marks – Subjective – 3 Hours
Second Day: Fundamentals of Accounting – 100 Marks – Subjective – 3 Hours
Third Day: Economic and Business Environment – 100 Marks – Subjective – 3 Hours
Fourth Day: Business Laws and Management
Business Laws – 60 Marks
Business Management – 40 Marks
Pattern – OMR Based – Duration 2 Hours

(P) Passing Criteria
Minimum 40% marks in each paper and 50% in aggregate. No exemption or carry forward of marks.

(Q) Venue, Timing and Other Details

Exam Time: 2:30 PM to 5:45 PM
Reading Time: 15 minutes per paper
No negative marking in OMR paper

Procedure for Direct Entry Registration

Step 1: Open this registration link

Step 2: Tick the options in the appropriate boxes and proceed further and click the button proceed for registration. After clicking, a new page will be opened. This new page will show two options:-

  • New Registration
  • Incomplete Registration

If the candidate will opt for new registration, all details are required to be filled.

Step 3: Click on the next button after filling all the required details.

Step 4: Upload all the mandatory documents

Eligibility Criteria:

  • In order to become eligible for registration as a student of the Executive Programme, he/she should not be less than 17 years of age on the date of his/ her application.
  • Candidates who have passed the CSEET (Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test) conducted by the ICSI are eligible.
  • Candidates who have finished their graduation or post-graduation in any field except fine arts.
  • Candidates who have passed the CA Final exam, CMA Final exam, or any equivalent accountancy exam recognized by the Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, either in India or abroad.

Procedure for CS Executive Registration

Step 1: Go to the official ICSI website.

Step 2: Select “Online Services” from the menu bar. If you’re registering for the first time, click on “Register for CS Course.” If you’ve passed the CSEET exam, click on the other option.

Step 3: Fill in your basic info and address, and generate a unique ID. Then, provide the required details.

Step 4: Check the CS Executive fees and upload your documents as per the given specifications.

Step 5: Review your application, make the payment, and save the transaction ID. For future use, get the transaction receipt.

Required Documents for CS Executive Registration

You’ll be required to upload the scanned copy of original documents.

  • Candidate’s photograph and signature
  • Date of Birth Certificate (Class 10 pass certificate)
  • Admit card for Class 12 examination

Candidates should have passed the CS executive examination with a minimum of 40% in each paper and 50% marks aggregate in all subjects.

Procedure for CS Professional Registration

Step 1: Go to the official website of ICSI – icsi.edu

Step 2: Click on the link “Online Services” given in the menu bar of the home page

Step 3: Now click on the option “Student Portal” and log in to your ICSI account. Enter your Username and Password, proceed forward.

Step 4: Once logged in, select the option Students and click on “My Account”

Step 5: Now look for the option “Professional Registration” as shown in the given image and fill the application form in online mode.

Step 6: You will find your details in your account. Now upload the pass mark sheet of both modules of the CS Executive exam.

Step 7: Complete the CS Professional registration fee payment of Rs. 12000. The payment can be done through Credit Card / Debit Card / NetBanking.

Step 8: Once the payment is complete, the registration is successful. Now candidates can go to the “Others” option and download Registration Letter / E-Identity Card.
